Disputes
Last updated: January 23, 2026
A dispute (also known as a chargeback) happens when a cardholder questions a payment with their card issuer. When this occurs, the card issuer creates a formal dispute and immediately reverses the payment.
What happens when you receive a dispute
The payment amount is deducted from your account balance, along with a dispute received fee charged by the card network.
You can respond to the dispute by submitting evidence that the payment was valid.
Possible outcomes
If the dispute is decided in your favor: The disputed amount and the dispute countered fee are returned to you.
If the dispute is upheld: The card issuer's decision is final and you will not be refunded.
Timeline
The full dispute process, from initiation to final decision, can take 2-3 months to complete.
